Strategic Work Plan

PRB has successfully completed its three years work plan (1997-1999) with the aim to move from rehabilitation/ reconstruction and emergency to development and to move from project-wise to program-wise and longer term approach which have the advantage of ensuring of sustainability.

The lessons learned from successful completion of three-year work plan (1997-1999) bound PRB leadership to prepare a five years strategic work plan for year 2000-2004. The strategic work plan for the years 2000 to 2004 is the continuation of previous work plan (1997-1999) in more comprehensive manner.

PRB is constantly seeking to improve its work procedure so that it may serve the people of Afghanistan more effectively. PRB wishes to consolidate and improve its interventions and secure resources to enable it in taking long-term approaches in assisting the people of Afghanistan to build-up sustainable livelihood. Projects will be designed in accordance with the local community needs and conditions, and the projects that can bring lasting benefits to the people deserving assistance. Community involvement in project cycle will be a pre-requisite to every community-based program.

PRB Guide Lines for Operation:

Peace Building:
PRB follow strict impartiality among various factions and group, which formed the Transitional State of Afghanistan. PRB continues presence in food security reconstruction, education and peace-building services provides ordinary rural and urban families with the hope to improve their living condition.

Human Rights and gender equality:
PRB strategic objectives are based on Universal Declaration of Human rights and use them as a basis to determine its decisions and actions within the realm of local communities and nation of Afghanistan. PRB programs encourage the participation of Afghan men and women, irrespective of their political affiliation and ethnicity, in project selection, implementation and ownership. PRB operates in a way that is transparent to donors, community, participants and government.

Poverty enhancement:
PRB program support reaches the most deprived, vulnerable and marginalized beneficiaries. Also it make contribution and improvements in the life of the poor, are adaptable, serve as models, protect environmental resources and sustainable. PRB in implementation of project seek to minimize the exacerbation of conflict and work on improvement of peace building.

Participation:
In order to undertake humanitarian assistance programs, PRB requires that civil authorities and communities demonstrate their willingness to cooperate through the timely issuance of agreements, the adherence to those same agreements, appropriate contributions to each PRB project, and participation in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Sustainability:
Through a comprehensive staff-training program PRB develops professional competence within seed multiplication, live stock production, income generation and enterprises. Through community committees increased community participation will be developed during the next 5-10 years transferring selected project responsibilities from the organization to elected community committees. It is a long-term process, closely connected with overall community development processes
